There has never been a better time to enter Canadian defence
Canada is rebuilding its defence industrial base. The Prime Minister’s May 27, 2026 statement says Canada will invest $180B directly in defence procurement and $290B in defence and security-related infrastructure over the next 10 years, creating more than $125B in additional downstream economic benefits.
The same announcement points to a major shift in how Canada buys, builds, and funds defence capability: the creation of the Defence Investment Agency, changes to ITB policy, stronger incentives to subcontract with Canadian firms, a 90-day approval standard, and favourable treatment for firms with at least 70% Canadian content value.
The direction is clear: Canada wants to build more at home, strengthen sovereign capability, move faster, and make it more valuable for prime contractors to work with Canadian companies.
For founder-led Canadian SMBs, this creates a rare window. Companies that position themselves now will be easier for prime contractors, government buyers, and defence ecosystem partners to find, understand, trust, and engage.

Is Dewis Ventures right for you?
We are a good fit if
You are a Canadian company that could supply defence but you are not sure where you fit.
You have a product, technology, or manufacturing capability with defence potential.
You are chasing a specific contract, grant, or proposal and you need to win it.
You want defence to become a real revenue stream.
You want practical help, not a report that sits on a shelf.
This is not for everyone
Dewis Ventures is a good fit if you are a Canadian company with a real capability, serious growth intent, and the budget to pursue defence properly.
We are probably not a fit if you want a generic market report, a list of names, a cheap grant writer, or introductions without doing the positioning work first.
What happens on a Defence Market Fit consultation?
It is a short, focused call. We look at what you make or do, where it might fit in defence, and whether the timing is right for you. You leave knowing if defence is a real opportunity, who might care, and what to do first. If we do not see a credible path, we will tell you straight.
